Kakithoner events update

THere will be some races joined by Kakithoner start from next week.Among are Kl Master Relay and Putrajaya night Run.Then will come to our major event of the year which is MASUM in UPM again.

I am the first timer for the KL Relays so wasnt really know about the route condition, anyway we aim for the best in that event.THis event is a baton relays which require each runner to run 3km x 3 runners each team.Unit sukan has agreed to sponsor us for the event that will minimize the financial burden for us.So for those that didnt go,train urself to a better condition for next event.Relay event require additional mental strategic than normal individual run,so learn for it during the training routine.

Then come to the Putrajaya Night Run.Quite alot of students will join the race as there will be around 15 of us going down the race.I been joining the Shape run and ekiden run in putrajaya and i can say that you nid not worry about the road safety and the road condition also not so hilly. But somehow when i run there, its abit of heat on the road condition there,so you may need to prepare for it,but i think its a minor problem that you nid to care for.

Then come to MASUM,a race that we train for most of the time. The problem is before MASUM is CNY new year,so guys/gals especialy chinese punya,u better take care your diet and training during tha period of,also make sure no injury occur or else, you can say 'bye bye' to that event ler!

Then the march will be busy month as well where UTM Duathlon challenge will held that time and KL towerthon.I heart that Towerthon will be held at night as well, really?Anyway hope you guys prepare for the challenge. It wil be we set up team A n B or only 1 we will go this time.Anyway its a nice event to join to see how you capable to achieve different route condition by running up the starircases!

Till here, any update will be posted soon.Or you can contact with me if you have any problem regarding the race event n training programme.

p/s:Black and Jiha can come for our training if you all are free in the evening.

The Moderate Path

anyone knows who is R.Kelly? hehe

2010 has just started, but there are a lot of memorable events that have happened for the past few weeks. Masum is getting nearer so how far had we prepare ourselves for the big day?

Some of us already experience the taste of success during recent races and training sessions but there is also the bitter taste to swallow for some of us.

Just wanted to share the following Buddha story:
"One day a music teacher was teaching his student how to play a string instrument. The song was:

"Fair goes the dancing when the Sitar is tuned,
Tune us the Sitar neither low nor high,
And we will dance away the hearts of men.
The string overstretched breaks, the music dies,
The string overslack is dumb and the music dies,
Tune us the Sitar neither low nor high."

Siddartha heard the teacher say "if you wind the string too tight it will break and if you have the string too loose, there will be no music". On hearing these words, Siddartha came to the realisation of the middle way of life - it must be neither strict and nor undisciplined."

Whether it is a success or failure, it is always a wise choice to treat it moderately(that means neither being too excited nor extremely depressed)

Same case for training, a consistent and moderate work out for many days is always better than a single day work out which is highly intense.

Thanks to Aunty Moey for the meaningful and thoughtful reminder and info.

All the best to all !!!

Kakithoner recent races

There're 2 races that Kakithoners have joined which are UTM Night endurance and last weekend's Klang Padang Penembak 15k.

Lets talk about UTM race.As usual most of the Kakithoners joined d races and you have to complete the races in 1 hour and the guy that finish the most lap(1km+) considered as winner. Before the race i noe that our masum athlete,Zaheen will win d race easily and it turn out to be no surprise for all of us.Myself finished in 2nd,Wong 3rd,follow by Ayie and Chau.Lim kor finished first in his 26 years above category while T.penasihat Black finished in 3rd.Meanwhile Ting and Ida got their 1st and 2nd in women category. So its been alot of cash money(i think more than rm400) that won by us just before the 2010 new year!Congratz to all, those that didnt win anything, try your best in future, nothing is impossible!

p/s:sry 4 all coz that day no1 bringing d cam to snap the guys in action,so remember next time if you really wan to have ur own memorable pic been shot, better bring your own cam rather than depend on others de.

This 1 is Klang Padang Penembak 15km which turn out to be surprise for us in the race route.I and Wong went by Express bus, initialy i wasnt really wan to join the race which i think quite hard to get the top5 placing that i aimed for, anyway Wong in such a high enthusiasm n his motivation,i just join,as i expect the top indian guy frm country will join such as Muniandi,Arul Thewar,Venugopal n so on.
Muniandi, still 1 of the top Malysian runner that even our junior still cant cathc up with him..

We stay 1 night in Wong sister apartment, thnks her alot. Then early morning with d help of Uncle and Aunt Moey we travelled to Meru Klang which been describled by Uncle kinda Ulu area.Theres expected around 800 ppl join d races. Before the start of races i ad seen the top indian coming then saw some familiar local guys.
Jironi just finished his sea game recently, got 2nd behind muniandi, very fast this what i caan describe

The race just has alot of hilly area anyway it just not a problem for me and wong. Both of us finish in 10th and 12nd.What we get?Medal ,cert, myself another trophy.Top5 guys get their cash.We saw Jironi coming, and he finished 3rd initially, anyway Ahmed frm Morocco been disqualified so all of us been upgrade 1 position.Moey family with Dylvia got 7th while Uncle got 8th and they got d lucky draw of NB voucher as well.Congrtaz to them and Thanks alot to them as well.Finish in top 10 abit consolation, anyway still way off those top guy..
Wong has since improve alot in his races manage to beat his challenger before this ,keep it on....

P/s:Thanks Pmtey 4 d pic...

Underdog

Masum is approaching in around 1 and a half month from now, so are we aiming anything from the prestigious event which features some of our national athletes?

Where do we stand against the best athletes from other IPT nationally?
Do we have the chance for a breakthrough? or we just participate to fill in the empty vacancy?
I believe that everyone of us had an “inner underdog” – that little voice inside of us that dares us to be great (www.sandystruss.com)

We may be on the losing side in term of strength, experiences, skills level, training environment, nutrition, recovery/ resting period ( we need to attend classes weekdays just like a typical student), confident and actually almost everything !!!
so how? is that mean we are totally hopeless????

Anything is possible, but you have to believe and you have to fight.
Lance Armstrong

They may be great, but we are not bad either.
No matter what happen, we should remain committed and undeterred in spite of the odds stacked against us, and exhibit an indomitable spirit to inspire others.

The outcome of the competition is not as important as the process to get to our target.
Yes, we may fail but certainly there is also a chance for us to be triumph.
It is not all about winning against others, but it is more about having faith that no matter what the outcome, we will measure success by our own standards, and give our very best. It is about having the courage to pursue a dream that nobody sees but we, ourselves.

So we all certainly BOLEH !!!

I hope to finish this attire ASAP so that we can have a new look, especially when we go for our year 2010 races. So you can either direct chat with me/sms with me/email or any other method u think suitable for u to pour out ur opinion.

Im Hsiung. Sorry for the late report about the two recently races that I joined. First was the Starwalk 2009. This was the first time I joined a walking competition, I flew to Penang the night before the race and stayed at our captain, Ong’s house. When I reached his house was around 12a.m so after preparing our stuff for the next day’s race, then we went to sleep. It was the first time I can sleep so well the night before a race, maybe staying together with Ong increased my confidence for the next day’s race.

Early in the morning around 5a.m we had reached the place, PISA where the race held. There were already crowded with people even though it was still early. As promised, the race started at 7a.m and I was very lucky to be in the front pack and ran along with other walkers. The first 100+ meter I ran as I saw all the people were running, then when reached a point where people began to slow down, then I started to walk. Since then, I walked throughout the race although there were many other walkers (runners) who ran then when they saw judges they started to walk, then ran again.

Around 200meters to the finish line, I saw ong far in front of me, so I started to walk faster and tried to catch up with him, it was quite tough for me but I can see that Ong wasn’t panting. At the finish line, I was just a step behind of Ong which was the best that I can do. However, we were surpassed by another guy who came out suddenly from nowhere.

I really learnt and gained a lot of experience from this race, I want to thank Ong for teaching me so much regarding walking and also thank him for discovering my walking talent. If not for him, I will never know that I got potential in walking. Thanks Ong.

My second race was Malakoff kl, I took the 12km run which was quite a long distance for me, I had never ran so far in a race before this. The race started at 7a.m sharp as promised, I was very nervous at the beginning of the race as I had been told by many people that this course has many uphill. So throughout the race I just maintain my normal pace without trying to push myself, my objective for this race is just to finish the race safely and healthily.

Although I didn’t get any placing, but I think what I got from this race is worth it as I learnt about my weakness and also realize that my training has been working, before this I barely able to run up a hill in a race, I will usually running at a slower pace when going uphill, but this time I realize that I can maintain my normal pace even when I go uphill. Another thing that is really useful is what Ong has taught me that is the finishing technique, I hardly believe it until I tried it during the race, the result was magnificent. Ha… Thanks Ong again. I will train harder and hope that the next time I join a race, I can try to speed up in uphill courses.

After the Night Run, i felt quite sad as although i trained for half year already, but my improvement still so slow and cant catch up with others. I think that i dont have much talent in running. I really hope that one day i can be like them.

Masum Meeting (30 Disember 2009)

these are some of the important details from the meeting

1. Unit Sukan will measure the strength of our team by observing our attendance.
so, if we want to get more privileges from them(exp: funding for competition, equipments and transportation), we ALL have to give the commitment and come for training.
it will be very hard for us to get funding for future races, if our team attendance is not up to the mark. furthermore, those youngsters that will join us, might dont have the chance to go for outside competition due to the lack of funding and management experiences.

Yes, it is very important for us to improve on ourselves, but please bear in mind that without the help of other, we might not even get the chance to be who we are today.
Yes, it is great to go for competition outside, conduct training outside. We all are looking forward to it because we all want to improve and gain new experiences. All these privileges are for us to enjoy because of the proper and consistent effort in management and dealing with Unit Sukan.
(Thanks Wei Xiang for all the behind the scene effort so far and also to Abang Black-Tuan Penasihat)
So, we all hope that all our member will give their full commitment to help the team and eventually helping our own self (individually) and future members.

2. there will be a training camp for our athletic team on weekend(the date is still no sure yet)
all the Uni teams will have to undergo the camp

3. Unit Sukan require us to conduct a endurance run at least once in a week (the route consist of 9km, 7km and 4km) they claimed that a special t-shirt will be provided and refreshment will be given at gym ktf to motivate the Uni team to train

4.Our athletic team Fitness Test is on 23 or 24 January 2010
all the core fitness element will be tested(flexibility, power, endurance, speed, agility and etc)
please prepare ourselve.

5. Masum is scheduled on 24-28 February 2010(ours maybe on weekend only)
